Welcome to Charlotte Mama, my very own passion project filled with unique and engaging activities in Charlotte that your family will enjoy! Explore my site and plan your family's next adventure in North Carolina!
I was born in El Salvador and grew up in Chapel Hill, North Carolina. After school, I landed a job on a pediatric oncology unit at the University of North Carolina Children’s Hospital. It was the honor of my life to help families going through a difficult cancer diagnosis and I will cherish my time there forever. It was at UNC where I met my husband, Johann. After getting married, we briefly spent time at the University of Mississippi before finally settling down in Charlottesville. We enjoyed getting to know Virginia's picturesque countryside and feel extremely grateful for our time there as a family.
In 2022, following the unfortunate loss of a family member, we felt called back home to North Carolina to be close to family. Charlotte provided a great opportunity for Johann in his career, and we are fortunate to still be able to visit family in the Triangle on weekends. We have grown to love Charlotte and are excited for it to become our forever home.
As a mother to three children - our son at Virginia Tech and our two daughters, I understand the difficulties of being a mom in a new location. Feeling the strong urge to make Charlotte feel like home as soon as possible, I made it a mission to explore every corner of the city. In my free time, I started my social media page, Charlotte Mama, originally to document our adventures. Over time, it has transformed into a resource helping fellow parents feel encouraged to explore activities in Charlotte and beyond.
My hope is that you feel inspired to get out a create new memories with your family.
xoxo,
Karla
